Make a simple plan

Walk through the home with your agent before photography day. Agree on the rooms and features to highlight, the preparation that matters most, and a realistic schedule. Focus on making the space easy to understand rather than making it look like a different home.

Clear the surfaces people notice first

Start with kitchen counters, bathroom vanities, dining tables, and bedside tables. Put away everyday clutter, cords, cleaning supplies, and laundry. Keep a few thoughtful objects so the home still feels warm. Store loose items in a designated place that will not interrupt the photography.

Let the rooms breathe

Arrange furniture so doorways and walking paths are visible. Straighten chairs, smooth bedding, and tidy shelves. A room often reads more clearly when its main purpose is obvious. Check with your photographer before moving large pieces or changing the setup.

Give light and details some attention

Clean accessible windows and mirrors, replace burned-out bulbs safely, and ask the photographer how they want blinds and lights set. Wipe fingerprints from appliances and glass doors. Small details can become much more noticeable in a photograph.

Finish outside and protect your privacy

Tidy the entrance, put away hoses and bins where practical, and arrange for vehicles to be moved out of the main view. Remove visible mail, personal documents, family photographs, and anything displaying private information. Make a plan for pets during the shoot, then do one final walkthrough with your photographer.
