Leave a little space between showings

A weekend of home tours can become a blur of kitchens, floor plans, and appointment times. Build in a break to experience Austin outside the front door. Lady Bird Lake gives you a place to stretch your legs, take in the skyline, and think about what you have seen.

Bring your showing notes along. Sometimes a quiet conversation away from the property helps clarify which features matter most.

Choose a manageable stretch of the Butler Trail

The Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail follows Lady Bird Lake through central Austin. The City of Austin describes it as a 10-mile loop connecting waterfront scenery with neighborhoods and urban destinations. You do not need to complete the whole loop to enjoy it; choose a shorter section that fits your time and energy. Read the City’s trail guide ↗

Use The Trail Conservancy’s maps and parking information to choose an access point and plan your return. Check the forecast and bring water before heading out.

Check current conditions before you go

Construction can change a familiar route. As of October 26, 2026, the City lists a north-shore detour near the Confluence and Austin Rowing Club, scheduled from June 2026 through March 2027. Follow posted signs and on-site directions, and check the project page for updates before your visit. Check the Confluence project updates ↗

Keep the afternoon flexible. A shorter walk and time to sit by the water can be just as useful as a full itinerary.

Notice what you would want in your own routine

As you explore, think about how often you would make a trip like this. Would a weekend visit be enough, or is easy access to a walking route something you want close to home? Would you rather have a private outdoor space, nearby public recreation, or a combination?

There is no single right answer. A beautiful city view is a reason to enjoy the moment; your day-to-day needs should guide the property search.

Bring the bigger picture back to your search

Before the next showing, write down one thing you learned about the home you want and one thing you learned about how you want to spend your time. Share both with Brandon. Finding a home is easier when the conversation includes what happens beyond its walls.
